BOULDER CANYON

(US FOREST SERVICE)

The BCC partners with the US Forest Service’s Boulder Ranger District to monitor Boulder Canyon’s nesting sites. BCC staff and volunteers install closure signage and wildlife cameras in the canyon, and provide detailed observation reports to the USFS. These reports provide information about which nests are active, the development of the eggs/chicks throughout the season, and their eventual fledging. The USFS uses these reports to inform its adaptive management policies, including lifting closures early for inactive nesting sites. If you’re interested in helping in this collaborative effort, email Aaron@boulderclimbers.org for more information about volunteering!
