The BCC is dedicated to replacing outdated and unsafe fixed anchors throughout the Front Range with modern, long-lasting hardware. We equip qualified volunteers with the training, tools, and materials needed to complete this critical work, ensuring that fixed hardware remains as safe as possible. Our mission extends beyond hardware alone—by fostering a community of responsible rebolters and route developers, we are setting a national standard for community-driven bolt replacement.

Each year, BCC volunteers replace between 700 and 1,000 bolts across the Front Range, in some cases rebolting an entire crag— 150 or more replacements in a day— in our large-group projects. Since our efforts began, we’ve replaced more than 7,000 bolts and reused the same hole more than 97% of the time (the others are patched, camouflaged, and safely re-placed nearby). Thanks to our engaged community, we are preserving both the integrity of climbing routes and the rock itself for generations to come.

  • Become a re-bolter! Boulder Climbing Community has created a three part training for volunteers interested in learning anchor replacement. The training focuses on developing a base knowledge of bolts, and bolting history, with hands-on practice. Part one is a PDF of slides or a training video After reviewing part-one, complete the quiz and BCC staff will schedule you for a hands-on part-two training where you will learn the tools and best practices for removing and replacing bolts. Part three is shadowing an experienced rebolter, after which you are eligible to submit hardware grants, and work independently on bolt replacement projects.
